Nursing Programs at Bridgeport Hospital
Bridgeport Hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing its nurses with the resources and support to build extraordinary careers includes the following programs:
Student Nurse Clinical Externship Program Full-time students entering their final year in an accredited baccalaureate nursing program can participate in the Bridgeport Hospital Student Nurse Clinical Externship Program. This program was created to enable students to get first-hand exposure to a number of specialty tracks, including:
- Maternal/Child Health
- Surgery
- Cardiac Care
- Emergency Care
The program lasts approximately three months, and requires completion of at least one semester of hospital-based clinical practicum and good academic standing.
Post-Graduate Perioperative Nursing ProgramThe Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing offers a 20-week Perioperative program designed to train nurses to care for patients in the Operating Room. Selected candidates may be eligible to receive full tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of the course. For complete details on this program, please click here.
RN Refresher ProgramBridgeport Hospital – in conjunction with Yale New Haven Health System – offers a custom-designed program to welcome back RNs who have been away from hospital-based nursing. This program provides nurses with current knowledge, and builds confidence as it helps you to reintegrate into a challenging, high acuity hospital environment.
The Program consists of 18 classes held on-site at Bridgeport Hospital on weekdays, followed by a clinical rotation on a nursing unit of your choice. Tuition is $1,895.
Nurses who go on to work for any of the Yale New Haven Health System Hospitals – Bridgeport Hospital, Greenwich Hospital (hotlink: Greenwich Employment site - "need link") or Yale-New Haven Hospital (hotlink: YNHH Employment site - "need link") – are eligible for tuition reimbursement, as well as potential sign-on bonuses.
