Performance Incentive Plan

The Performance Incentive Plan (PIP) links our compensation and organizational results. It focuses on organization-wide Financial Performance and Provider of Choice results. Employees are involved in the success and overall performance of the organization and therefore, have an impact on our PIP results. It is a “bonus-type” payout made in December if the employee is active on September 30th of that year.

Legal Holidays

Bridgeport Hospital offers 6 legal holidays per year: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Payment for these holidays is based on the following:
  • 22.5-34 Hours/Week = 4 Hours Paid each legal holiday
  • 35-37 Hours/Week = 7.25 Hours Paid each legal holiday
  • 38-40 Hours/Week = 8 Hours Paid each legal holiday

Floating Holidays

Bridgeport Hospital offers 6 floating holidays per calendar year. Employees are eligible to use 1 Floating Holiday every 2 months, at the same accrual rate as used for legal holidays (see above).

Vacation Time

Employees accrue 2-5 weeks of paid vacation time per year, based on their position and longevity. Vacation time accrues hourly as follows:

Sick Time

Full-Time employees accrue 12 sick days per year, with hours accruing per the following schedule:
  • 22.5-34 Hours/Week = 1.8462 Hours/Pay Period
  • 35-37 Hours/Week = 3.3462 Hours/Pay Period
  • 38-40 Hours/Week = 3.6923 Hours/Pay Period

Tuition Reimbursement Program

Full-Time and Part-Time employees with 22.5 or more scheduled hours/week are eligible to apply for tuition reimbursement after 6 months of service.
  • Regular Full-Time employees will be reimbursed 100% up to a $4,150 maximum per calendar year – as long as a grade of “C” or better is received for undergraduate students and "B" or better for graduate students. Student fees are also reimbursable.
  • Part-Time employees will be reimbursed for 85% of tuition costs, up to a maximum of $2,075 per calendar year. Student fees are also reimbursable.

Dependent Tuition Loan Program

Employees who have completed at least 1 year of service are eligible for a dependent tuition loan of up to $2,500 per year (up to a maximum of 4 academic years) for their eligible dependent. Interest is paid on your behalf until the loan commences repayment.

Deduct-A-Ride Program

Employees who use mass transportation to commute to work can save money on taxes when they elect up to $230/month to be deducted out of their paycheck on a pre-tax basis to purchase transit vouchers.

Adoption Benefit

All benefits-eligible employees are eligible to receive up to $8,000 per child for qualified adoption expenses.

Lactation Room

Bridgeport Hospital provides a quiet, private room on the hospital's 5th floor for new mothers to express milk for their babies. To arrange a viewing of the room, call extension 3749 or visit the 5th floor, Woman's Care Center.

Ready Care

This program offers back-up, in-home temporary care when a spouse, parent or dependent child is mildly ill or regular arrangements unexpectedly fall through. This allows a working parent to meet both their work and family responsibilities. The service is available 24/7 and no less than four hours of care in one 24 hour period can be provided. Employees pay the following rates: $4 per hour up to 16 hours per year for the care of one adult dependent or up to three children. Call 1-866-384-2784 to register (pre-registration is required). 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

This program provides confidential counseling and problem assistance for employees with personal and work-related problems. Available to employees and their immediate family members, the EAP provides individualized help through professionally trained counselors. EAP professionals deal with a wide variety of issues affecting personal well-being and job performance. You may contact the EAP office by calling the Careers for Life line at 1-866-384-BPT4 (2784), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Resource & Referral

The Resource & Referral Program provides employees and their families with 24/7 access to social workers, teachers and nurses who can help them save time, find answers, talk confidentially with professionals, and solve the challenges of balancing their life and work. ChildPort

ChildPort Day Care Center is a subsidized facility of Bridgeport Hospital. It has been in operation since 1988, and is a state licensed, nonprofit center operating for the sole use of the employees of Bridgeport Hospital and its affiliates. It is a year-round program which operates Monday-Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a capacity for 36 children between the ages of 3 months and 5 years. Phyical Fitness Center/Class and/or Meeting Based-Weight Loss Program Reimbursement

This program provides benefits-eligible employees with $150 annually at the completion of one year's active participation at a Fitness Center or at the completion of participation in physical fitness classes (e.g. yoga, spinning, kick boxing, aerobics, etc.). It also provides reimbursement towards meeting-based weight loss programs.
